How Much Should I Charge for a Workshop?

NOTE the difference between  "Workshops" and "Sessions": A learner pays one time for a Klatch "workshop." Each workshop can meet once or multiple times -- those live meetings are called "sessions" and are created in the "Sessions Tab" of the workshop you create and can easily be joined on the day of by a click of a button.
  • You as the faciltiator set the price. We do however have pricing guidelines - both minimums and maximum limits if they appear like price gouging.
  • We recommend basing your workshop price on the total number of live sessions you offer since Klatch is all about live interaction. The pricing page will show a total workshop price AND automatically show the breakdown of the price per session.
  • Your workshop price must be competitive with the market price elsewhere (so do some research on what exists on the internet if you are offering a new topic), but on average Klatch facilitators charge $30-80 per live session depending on how much existing traction they have and what similar workshops might go for online. For example, for a workshop of 5 sessions you might charge between $150 - 400 per workshop.  Our facilitators usually charge round dollars rather than adding decimals (e.g. $45 instead of $44.99).
  • If it’s your first ever Klatch workshop and you don’t already have a handful of learners you’re expecting (i.e. you’ll have to market considerably), we recommend pricing $25-45 per live session and then gradually raising it over time as you attract your audience.  If you already have an audience when you first join Klatch we recommend teaching your current topics to your loyal learner base on Klatch and charging what you normally would for a workshop. Generally our best facilitators are charging $45-80 per session though it varies widely by topic. As a platform we aim to be extremely competitive and at a discount to online bootcamps, universities, and private tutors while being a higher level of interaction and quality.
  • When you are pricing your workshop, you always want to factor in comparables for your workshop and even discount to that early on. For example if you charge $75 per 90 minute session for a guitar workshop but you know that a great guitar teacher might charge $75/hr for a private, 1-on-1 hour guitar lesson you are probably too high. By charging $40-45 you're almost half of the private lesson for more time so the learner feels like they're getting  a great deal (so great that they want to tell all their friends) but because you have multiple people at once you're making far more than $75/hr and could even be making thousands of dollars per hour of being on Klatch after many months of growing your own audience.
  • If you have successfully marketed and taught a prior workshop at or over $100 per live session, you should feel comfortable doing so on Klatch.
